The minimum requirements for employment contracts are now being extended: Here's what you need to have in place

From July 1, 2024, new rules for employment contracts come into force, which will affect both new and existing employment contracts. The changes are part of the government's efforts to improve working conditions and give employees better rights. 1. Extended content requirements:
   • The new rules require more detailed employment contracts. This includes information about probationary periods, temporary employment, and working hours at home.
   • Employers must now specify rights and obligations more clearly in the employment contract, which will give employees a better understanding of their terms and rights.
     
     
2. Probationary period and temporary employment:
   • The requirements for probationary periods and temporary employment are being tightened. This is to ensure that more employees get permanent employment, which provides greater security and stability in working life.
   • Access to temporary employment is limited to situations with a clear and time-limited need for extra labor.
     
     
3. New deadlines and practical changes:
   • Employers must update existing employment contracts if employees request it, within the new deadlines.
   • The changes will ensure that all employees have updated and valid employment contracts that comply with the new legal requirements.
